As a photographer, I work with materials, lighting and composition that function within precise framework in order to categorize the message for the viewer. The concepts and materials of which I deal with relate to my identity and definition as an Israeli, and are taken from these worlds: home, social status, social settings and family roots.
In the piece are two figures taken from my family album - my grandparents who were born in Iraq. Using the sculpturing of the rice and its relation to Eastern cuisine, the shape of the characters become a Generic Israeli icon, as the material of which they are made is their link to the Israeli society.
